Delaware's First Council
Wilmington’s Santa Maria Council #195 was the first council formed in Delaware. It was named in the honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Santa Maria Council was established December 13, 1896. The council is associated with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

1892: Columbus Quadrocentennial Celebration
In 1892, the Connecticut Knights of Columbus threw a party for the ages as they celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' voyage to America. The parade in New Haven, CT was estimated to have 6,000 men, 65 councils, and 36 brass bands from around the state.
